About GB Nomics

GB Nomics is an independent dashboard for understanding the UK economy, financial markets and sterling.

What we do

We bring published economic statistics and market observations into a common format, with original levels, growth measures, historical charts and transparent calculations. Our own Model Charts remove a fitted trend and standardise the residuals to help compare movements across different units.

How to use the analysis

Start with the published level and its date. Compare the recent movement with the longer history, then read the card’s methodology before interpreting a model. A high standardised score means an observation is above its fitted trend; it does not automatically mean an economy is healthy or an asset is expensive.

Recession models describe economic warning signs. Valuation comparisons place prices beside economic inputs. The GBP/USD positioning model compares sterling’s trend with leveraged-fund positions in British pound futures. None estimates a guaranteed outcome or an individually suitable investment.

Our code and explanatory content have been developed with AI assistance. Automated calculations and historical tests are not an independent audit or a guarantee of predictive accuracy. Read our editorial policy for the distinction between source observations, calculated models and forecasts.

Updates and corrections

Feeds are checked on page load and every 24 hours while the dashboard is open, subject to server caching. Each source publishes on its own schedule. Cards with failed or stale inputs are hidden until a recent source check succeeds. Official data can be revised, and later releases can change historical calculations.

Source links, observation dates, formulas and data tables let readers inspect the evidence. See the full methodology and coverage limitations. If reporting a possible error, include the indicator name, observation date and source value you are comparing.

Independence and limitations

GB Nomics is not a government service, a statistical authority or a financial adviser. The site provides general information, not personal investment advice. Data availability, source revisions and model assumptions can affect results. Market data may be delayed and should not be used for trade execution.

Advertising, when enabled, will be labelled and kept separate from charts and analysis. An advertisement is not an endorsement.
